For the last two weeks our lives have consisted of waking Nicolas up every three hours (8, 11, 2, 5 am and pm) to make sure he gained back all of the weight he lost at the hospital and with the tube feeding. This schedule is quite challenging to maintain....typically feeding him takes anywhere from 45 minutes to just over an hour. After feeding, he is usually awake for a bit and then falls asleep. By the time he falls asleep its just an hour and a half until we wake him up again and start all over.
Enrique has been the absolute best dad, husband and best friend I could ever have dreamed of! He stays up with me through the 11:00 feeding everyday so that puts him going to sleep around 1:00 am after Nicolas falls asleep and he is able to get himself ready for bed. It is such a great feeling to watch Enrique as a dad....Nicolas is literally in his arms every minute that he is not nursing or being changed by me! He does let me do the 2 am, 5 am, and 8 am feedings on my own....however most mornings when I come back into the bedroom after the 8 am feeding Enrique is sitting up in bed with his arms open just waiting for me to hand over Nicolas so he can say good morning. I really could not be happier with these two men in my life.

Today we had our two week check up and we could not be any more proud of Nicolas! We have been (as previously mentioned) consumed with putting some weight on him and found out today we have been successful! Here are his two week stats:
Weight: 7 lbs 11 ozs!!! (up from his birth weight of 7 lbs 4 ozs) This puts him at the 30th percentile.
Length: 21 inches (birth length was 19 1/4 inches) This puts him at the 75th percentile
We are overjoyed and truly blessed that our little man is growing at a healthy rate and packing on some pounds! He is still very long and skinny....those long arms and legs are definitely courtesy of his daddy!
The pediatrician told us today to continue every three hour feedings during the day and at night to let Nicolas wake us up to feed him. So our first trial of this will be tonight....this makes me extremely nervous! Right now, it comforts me to know that even when I fall asleep, I'll be waking him up in just an hour (or hour and a half after an easy feeding) to know he is alright. I suspect I will be staring at the monitor all night just waiting for him to wake! Other instructions after our visit today are to keep him at home and not expose him to toddlers or school age children until after he has his shots at six weeks since we are right up on flu season and with school starting germs are everywhere! We also get to try something new this week.....tummy time! I'm sure I will have pictures of that soon :)
Wow....a much longer post than I had intended but I really could go on and on and on about Nicolas for as long as anyone would let me! YES I have become one of those mom's that is obsessed over her kid and wants to talk about him all the time and I LOVE IT!!!!
And now what you probably are more interested in.....a few pics!
